Cyber Monday is in full swing, and we’re seeing loads of epic deals roll in. Samsung is usually one of the best brands to look at in the sales, and its gaming monitors in particular get huge discounts. One that’s stood out to me, was its impressive 43″ Odyssey Neo G7 monitor that’s now almost half price in the Cyber Monday sales on Amazon. You can now bag this monitor for just $519.99, down from $999.99 – which is a steal if you ask me.

I’ll skim past the more ‘standard’ specs with this monitor, which are the 144hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and 4K resolution. All of these are quite common nowadays, so this monitor doesn’t stand out in that regard. Where it does stand out is its panel technology. It’s a Quantum Mini-LED panel, which is basically in the middle of QLED and OLED in terms of quality. Generally speaking, Quantum Mini-LED monitors can go pretty bright, offering excellent color coverage and contrast, but at no where near the cost of OLED at the same size – which would generally be around $1000 or more.
It’s VESA Display HDR600 certified, which is much better than your standard monitor, with most at this price range usually having a Display HDR400 rating instead. One thing this indicates is that the peak brightness can get to around 600 nits in an area of the screen. Where the whole screen lands in terms of brightness is less, with this monitor boasting 400 nits. That’s bright, and more than enough even if you have this in a well-lit room.
For gaming, one of the worst things you can have is ghosting and screen tearing. Thankfully this has one of the highest levels of adaptive sync technology – AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. This should help reduce this vastly when frame rates either drop or increase suddenly. That’s great for fast-paced games, or really any type of game in fact.
Now this monitor offers even more value for money as it’s a smart monitor too. A smart monitor is a device that packs both the features of a computer monitor and a TV into one. That means you can stream content through this monitor without having to connect anything external – all the familiar apps are in there, just as they would be on a smart TV. You’ve also got access to cloud gaming too, so you can just plug this in and start gaming if you wish. Think of it as ‘streaming’ but for games.
Smart monitors add on another level of price as you’re basically buying a TV as well as monitor. Considering most mini-LED 43″ TVs come in at anywhere between $400 – $600, this smart monitor is great value for money.
Overall, I think this deal is great for anyone looking for something that can do everything they need. For a study, a spare room, or even as your main device, this is a versatile option that I think is well worth considering.
