In the gaming hardware landscape, you'll see plenty of brands such as ASUS, Gigabyte, ASRock, MSI, and obviously, there are the key players NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. However, Apple was never part of the conversation as MacBooks or Mac desktops never showcased the gaming performance that others offered.

Instead, these devices are largely used for productivity. However, a recent visit by CD Projekt RED to the Apple Park indicates that Apple doesn't want to sit on the sidelines anymore.

Could CD Projekt RED and Apple be collaborating?

In a post by Pawel Sasko on X, who is the Associate Game Director at CD Projekt Red, he showcased a MacBook powered by the M4 Max processor, running Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on ultra settings and managed to hit 120 FPS.

Now, whether the MetalFX was involved in this, we can't say for sure, as that hasn't been made clear, but even if it is, for Cyberpunk 2077 to hit 120FPS on ultra settings is an incredible feat on its own.

This puts it at the level of high-end gaming laptops. The Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition includes all the updates and overhauls that the title has gone through since its launch. So, this is Cyberpunk 2077 at its absolute best, and the MacBook seemingly managed to handle it with ease.

Now, the question is: why did CD Projekt Red just go up and visit Apple Park? While there has been no official word indicating a collaboration between the two but we can assume that macOS support is coming for the title, and Apple has been working on improving the gaming performance of its M-series processors.

What this means for the gaming industry, at first glance, is that there'll be more competition between the brands and more options for gamers and professionals to choose from. However, gaming laptops are never cheap, and it isn't news that Apple doesn't go light on the pricing.

So, depending on how it plays its cards, it could become a viable option to consider, but for those who like the flexibility of the Windows ecosystem, it might be a tough call to make.
