EA has officially announced the latest edition of its long-running football/soccer franchise – less than a week after the FIFA World Cup came to a close. A reveal trailer was uploaded yesterday, and pre-orders for EA Sports FC 27 were opened up immediately. The game launches with three editions, and it’s the price of the brand-new ‘Ultimate Plus’ edition that has people talking.

Much like last year’s entry, the Standard and Ultimate editions are priced at $69.99 and $99.99, respectively, but the new Ultimate Plus tier comes in at a whopping $149.99, something fans have been quick to call a “crazy” and “insane” price tag. As you’d expect with that kind of price tag, the Ultimate Plus Edition ships with plenty of additional content – all of which we’ve explained below.

You can now pre-order your copy of EA Sports FC 27

EA Sports FC 27 will launch on a wide range of hardware, including current and last-gen consoles, as well as Windows on PC. EA has also been keen to point out it will ship with physical versions (unlike GTA 6’s digital-only launch), explicitly mentioning it comes with a “Physical Disc” or cartridge in pre-order listings on Amazon. The game will launch worldwide on September 25.

EA Sports FC 27 editions explained

EA has already published an extensive list of what comes with the different editions on an official blog post here. We’ve tried to summarize it below, because there’s a lot to get through. On top of the three paid versions, EA will also be releasing ‘EA Sports FC 27 Lite’ – a free demo version which gives access to select game modes, including Kick-Off.

Before you ask, ‘Dual Entitlement’ means players with a copy of FC 27 on a last-gen console will be able to upgrade to current-gen at no additional cost. This applies from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S. Unfortunately, while the game is available on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, the same doesn’t apply for these.
