Madden NFL 25, the much-awaited Football video game, was finally released today after a trial period. As the name suggests, the EA Sports title is based on the National Football League and is a successor to Madden NFL 24. During the trial period, we’ve come across some reports of crashing – and the problem seems to linger for some users following its launch.
One user online recently reported that Madden 25 “failed to launch” from the EA App when they tried to play the game. Luckily, a few fixes have been thrown out there if you’re in a similar situation.
Madden NFL 25 crash troubleshooting
According to a Reddit post, the new Madden NFL game is not working on PC. As per the post, the game trial didn't start up smoothly for the user. In fact, the user got a “Blue Screen of Death” while starting the game for the first time.
However, after a few tries, the user was able to get it up and running, just like Madden NFL 24. The user shared the following steps to get Madden NFL 25 to run:
- Repaired the game and updated drivers before starting it again
- The user got the “cannot find file” error from Nvidia
- The user's EA app crashed, so had to force quit it and re-open it
- Before launching again, the user cleared the cache (EA App > Help > App Recovery > Clear Cache)
- The game then reached the loading screen, but it opened up the EA app
- Finally, after yet another try, the game loaded successfully
A Reddit user commented that this method worked. “I've had the same issue with it going back to the EA app then when you try again it works,” the user wrote. Many other Reddit users commented on the post and pointed out that they were unable to get the game running. And for some users, the game or the EA app kept crashing. “For me game crashes everytime I try to play solo challenges,” one of the users commented. Along with this, a few other users said that Madden NFL 25 crashed while playing or showed errors like “failed to launch” or “GPU not recognized.”
Going off a different thread on EA’s Answers HQ, you may have to uninstall Madden 24 as well to get the newer game working. The steps are listed below:
- Uninstall Madden NFL 24, Madden NFL 25, and the EA App
- Delete all EA/Origin folders in AppData/Local, ProgramFiles, and ProgramData
- Restart your PC
- Resintall the EA App and Madden NFL 25
Is it still happening after launch?
At the moment, Madden NFL 25 has been released, and the game is available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Windows. PC users can download Madden NFL 25 on Steam. While the trial may have been the cause of some issues, it seems like the full version of the game isn’t working for everyone either.
Another post on Reddit details an issues with “GPU crashing on PC”, whether that be after opening the game, loading, or just randomly mid-game. We recommend working your way through the steps above in order to get the game running.
