If you’re a fan of The Elder Scrolls franchise, 2025 could be a big year. Not because we expect to see Bethesda releasing The Elder Scrolls VI, but because the fan-favorite Oblivion could be remastered as soon as this year – in two different ways. Amid the development of a modded remake, there are also rumors that the 2006 classic is getting an official remake.
We recently featured Skyblivion, a fan-made modification of Skyrim, which has been in development for a considerable amount of time. The group behind the project recently revealed that “it’s coming along incredibly” and confirmed that the release date is still set for later this year.

Oblivion Anniversary Remake leaks online
In an apparent leak on Discord, brought to our attention by reputable leaker Pirat_Nation on X, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is getting remade and will be released in June of this year. They shared a few key details on the alleged remake that caught our attention.
First of all, it will “look better” than Skyrim, Starfield, and Fallout – being remade on Unreal Engine 5 while running on the Creation Engine (we’re not entirely sure about the logistics of this). However, as a result of the UE5 implementation, there will be no mod support and we think this is a damning change. The Elder Scrolls series has long enjoyed a vibrant modding community; it is at least worth pointing out that some people remain positive that modders will find a way to make it work.
The lack of support for mods made us immediately think of Skyblivion. As the name suggests, it is a large-scale modification of Skyrim that rebuilds the world of Oblivion, and there’s a lot of hype behind it. Considering this will be a completely free mod – and the official remake could cost you $79.99 – it makes us feel that even more attention could be coming Skyblivion’s way.
You can check out some of the most recent Skyblivion gameplay in the demo below. There is currently no official word on the Oblivion Anniversary Remake, so take any information about it with a grain of salt for the time being. The supposed restoration of cut content and inclusion of all expansions and DLC as standard is perhaps the biggest selling point so far.
