Forget the Steam Spring Sale, this Souls-like action RPG is free on Epic for a limited time

Table of Contents
If you’re in the mood for a challenging Souls-like RPG that won't take up as much time as the Elden Ring campaign, you should grab Mortal Shell for free while you can. Every week, the Epic Games Store gives away a title or two for free (to keep) to anyone with an Epic Games account, and this week, it’s offering the Souls-like Mortal Shell at no cost.
This marks Mortal Shell’s second time being featured as a free game on the Epic Games Store, so if you missed it the first time, now’s your chance to redeem it. As usual, you have seven days to permanently add the latest free game to your library, meaning you have until March 20 before it's replaced with another title.

Interestingly, Mortal Shell isn't part of the ongoing Steam Spring Sale and is still priced at $11.99 on Steam. That makes this Epic Games Store giveaway your only chance to grab the game at a massive 100% off.
Soulslike experience without spending a penny
Mortal Shell normally sells for $29.99, and according to the Epic Games Store description, “Mortal Shell is a deep action-RPG that tests your sanity and resilience in a shattered world.” The game features a few distinctive mechanics, like “Hardening” and “Shelling,” alongside the standard hit-and-dodge combat typical of the genre, making the 10- to 20-hour full playthrough packed with content.
Although the game doesn't have the most positive reviews on Steam compared to other Souls-like entries, the team has made substantial updates since its launch, making it worthwhile to try while it’s free on PC.
That said, Mortal Shell isn't the only freebie you can claim from the Epic Games Store. A complimentary content pack for World of Warships, titled the “Anniversary Party Favor,” is also available for free download. This add-on provides free credits, XP, a new cruiser, and more for World of Warships players.
If you were hoping to get a second game, you can try checking out these Best Steam Deck games under $10 in the Spring Sale, where you’ll find titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance available for just $9.99.
