Shortly after a leak revealed its existence, Rockstar Games announced the GTA 6 Collector’s Edition bundle yesterday. It’s called the Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection and comes with 11 pieces of merchandise, but it’s far from cheap. The whopping $399.99 price tag has even the more dedicated fanbase scratching their heads in reaction.

“I was ready to purchase a collector’s edition from the beginning,” says one GTA fan on Reddit, “but this is hot garbage”. We’ve seen a similar sentiment being shared around the web, with fans highlighting the odd selection of merchandise and the lack of the game itself. We already know GTA 6 launches without a disc, but the Collector’s Edition doesn’t even include a digital redeem code.

GTA 6 Collector’s Edition doesn’t seem worth the hefty price tag

Nothing in the Collector’s Edition features GTA 6’s two main characters, Jason and Lucia. “There’s not a single item I actually like within it,” another fan comments. Much of the Vice City Collection features mascot Macca the Gator from “the hit Leonida TV show”, which we’re not too familiar with so far, though the character has been spotted in the background of trailers, particularly last month’s Extended Look. The collection is headlined by a Macca the Gator Figure, and the box measures 19″ x 13.5″ x 12.5″.

Trusted source of Rockstar Games news, @videotech on X, admits the collection is “a really hard ask” for its £349.99 price in the UK, despite being “a massive collector of Rockstar Games” merchandise. They point out that the cardboard box design will not last as long as previous Collector’s Editions packages, such as the “big metal case” that came with Red Dead Redemption 2’s equivalent.
