Grand Theft Auto V is one of the biggest games out there. Even though it was released over 10 years ago, it is still played by millions every month. Yesterday, PC players received a free upgrade, which brought many features that were exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. Recently, Jacob Freeman tested the enhanced version on the RTX 5070, which is scheduled to launch later today (March 5th).

GTA V Enhanced tested on the new RTX 5070
The GTA V Enhanced Edition comes with many new features and content, including new cars and the option to subscribe to GTA+. However, for PC users, the biggest changes are an array of visual upgrades. The game now supports ray tracing features on PC, including ambient occlusion and global illumination. In addition, ray-traced shadows and reflections, which were already available on consoles, have now been added to the PC version. All of these features are designed to enhance the visuals and improve the overall gaming experience.
Jacob Freeman tested GTA V Enhanced Edition on the RTX 5070 at 4K resolution. The results showed a big difference in how the game looks with ray tracing turned on. One of the most noticeable changes was in reflections. With ray tracing, windows and car surfaces looked much more realistic. They reflected lights and objects around them just like they would in real life.

Shadows and lighting also saw big improvements. Before the update, some areas looked too dark, even when light was coming in through the windows. Now, thanks to ray-traced global illumination, light spreads naturally, making rooms look brighter and more realistic. Plus, shadows are also more accurate and detailed.

Jacob, however, did not reveal how much FPS he was getting or whether the frame rate improved compared to the previous version. He mentioned that he didn’t do a direct comparison but said that the new version of DLSS “certainly helps” with FPS. For those unfamiliar, DLSS 4 is Nvidia’s latest version of the AI upscaling and frame generation tech, with a long list of games already enjoying support alongside the latest transformer model.
