If you own a retro handheld and want to try a different yet fun game, then you might want to check out Retro Handheld Simulator. This game was released recently and it is a parody of the modern retro handheld scene. The best part? It's completely free to download and play, although players can choose to donate to support the developer if they want.

Retro Handheld Simulator is now available to download

The game was developed using GB Studio by Madsox Games, the very developer behind the Death Row series. If you’re interested in trying the game, it is now available on Itch.io. It can be downloaded as a .gb file, which works on most retro handhelds, and as a .pocket version for the Analogue Pocket. The game is only 35 kilobytes in size, so you won’t have to worry about it taking up a lot of space.

Retro Handheld Simulator is filled with jokes and references to the modern retro handheld community and gaming culture. It features a classic RPG-style look, similar to old-school games like Pokémon or Golden Sun. However, unlike those complex adventures, Retro Handheld Simulator keeps things light and simple as the gameplay is straightforward. Players can use the D-pad to move their character around the game’s pixelated world. The A button, on the other hand, is used to interact with objects, making exploration simple and fun.

One unique feature is that the game’s world resets every day. This means that players might find new things by interacting with objects more than once. This resetting mechanic adds a bit of mystery and replayability to the tiny game. And for those who want to skip the story, the select button can disable it. This option is ideal for players who have already completed the game and want to explore freely without interruptions.
