Let’s start the free-to-keep title.

Dead in Bermuda (Free to keep if you claim it today, August 29, 5 PM UTC)

Let’s first discuss Dead in Bermuda. Unlike the four titles below that are free to play for a limited time, this one is yours to keep forever once you claim it. However, you’ll need to act fast, as the offer ends today.

Dead in Bermuda is a survival management game. It combines RPG and adventure elements, and your main goal is to lead a team of eight survivors of a plane crash. As you progress, you’ll need to assign the survivors tasks, develop new survival skills, research and craft new items, and solve mysteries along the way.

Nightingale (Free to play until September 1)

Another game you can try this weekend is Nightingale. This is an open-world survival game where you’ll explore different realms. You’ll need to craft items and weapons to survive, and throughout the game, you’ll encounter powerful monsters determined to destroy you. You can also build your Realmwalker homestead, which will act as a shelter. The game is rated Playable on the Steam Deck, so it should run fine on the handheld with some setting tweaks and adjustments.

SWORN (Free to play until September 1)

Next up is SWORN, a co-op action rogue-like game that up to 4 players can enjoy together. You can choose from different characters, each offering unique abilities to help you in combat. Your main goal is to fight the Knights of the Round Table and progress through the levels until you face off against a corrupt king. Forts (Free to play until September 1)

If you’re a fan of RTS games, you should give Forts a try. This one is a physics-based RTS game where you can design and customize fortresses and battle against enemy players. It focuses heavily on resource management, so you’ll need to make the best use of what you have. You can arm your fort with 16 weapons, each meant for different situations. There’s also a single-player campaign mode with 28 missions to complete, and like Nightingale, this one is also Playable on the Steam Deck.

Lastly, a fantastic game you can try for free this weekend is Space Engineers – perfect for fans of exploration. This game has over 65,000 Very Positive reviews on Steam, which already shows just how good it is. You can assemble or disassemble almost everything, destroy whatever comes in your path, unlock features and items, travel through space using spaceships, explore different planets, and do so much more.
