Heroic Nintendo fan is already tackling Switch 2 scalpers, takes down “over 20” eBay listings

We’re still a couple of months away from the Nintendo Switch 2 release date, which arrives on June 5th. Pre-orders have already gone live in regions such as the UK, but have recently been delayed in the US as tariffs continue to cause havoc across the tech industry. While we don’t know the repercussions of that just yet for the Switch 2, we at least know that the console is in high demand, despite some disputes about the price tag.
Before people have even gotten close to getting their hands on the new Switch 2, scalpers are already trying to make a quick buck by selling presale items on eBay. However, one user on Reddit has tasked himself with bringing them all down.

Redditor declares war on Nintendo Switch 2 scalpers
This comes from a Reddit user u/MrJava-, who has taken it upon himself to remove these pre-order listings. It’s worth noting that eBay does have a presale policy, but the seller must “guarantee shipment within 40 business days of purchase,” which obviously isn’t going to happen, considering the Switch 2 is further away than that.
The redditor explains that taking these pre-order listings is simple; just report them. Within the report description, he writes: “This person is selling their presale item. They DO NOT have this item. Nobody has the Switch 2.” This seems to have done the trick.
While this is a valiant effort to prevent scammers, we suspect many of these listings will return once we get closer to the Switch 2 release date and within that 40-day period. Even still, MrJava- seems committed to the cause, making sure he does everything possible to ensure scalpers have a hard time making some money off the Switch 2 launch. If you’re looking to get the Switch 2, then we recommend pre-ordering from a trusted retailer, not a reseller on eBay.
The console was announced to retail at $449.99, or $499.99 when bundled with Mario Kart World. Again, as a result of tariffs, it remains uncertain if these prices will stay the same. In the UK, however, pre-orders went live on April 8th for £395.99 (or £429.99 for the bundle).
