People are already listing the PlayStation 5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition on eBay at around four times the pre order MSRP.
Back in September, Sony announced they’d be releasing a 30th Anniversary PlayStation 5 console this November; equipped with a design that pays homage to the original console from 1994. While there are still around two weeks left until the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition hits shelves, we’re already seeing early listings crop up on eBay – and pricing might shock you.
There are already several listings of the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary console on eBay, with prices ranging from $3,000 to over $8,000. It seems like the scalpers/scammers can’t help themselves this time, with pricing over four times that of the pre order asking price at Sony’s official product page.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen scalpers hit eBay selling pre-launch products; in fact, it seems to happen with almost every launch now. Our advice, like always, is to play it safe and buy through official Sony channels – as the likelihood of these listings being legit is incredibly slim.
What we’d rather buy than a pre-launch PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary console
I can’t imagine it myself, but there are people out there who would happily spend nearly $4,000 to get their hands on a pre launch PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary console. For me, I’d rather spend $959 and pre order it directly through Sony’s website. In fact, we did some digging and found a few things that are far better value than that.
Below are some things you could buy instead:
- Founder Edition RTX 4090 – $2499 – LG C4 OLED TV – $849 – AMD Ryzen 9950X – $599. Total bundle price: $3947
- Entire 9000-series CPU lineup – total cost: $1,500
- 4 x RTX 4080 Super graphics cards – total cost, $4,000
Let’s be honest, there’s plenty of ways you can blow $4,000 – and for me, a dodgy pre launch PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition is low on my list.
All jokes aside, please buy with care on eBay – especially with items that just seem too good to be true. There’s only two weeks left to get your hands on one of the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition consoles, so save yourself around $3,000 and just do that.
