Nvidia has long dominated the GPU market, and even though Team Green sees itself as an “AI data center infrastructure company” these days, gamers still flock to GeForce graphics cards. That hasn’t changed in the latest market share stats, courtesy of Jon Peddie Research (JPR), but for the first time, Intel has made the smallest of dents, finally occupying 1% of the GPU market.

Intel has hit a new milestone, and while it doesn’t sound like much, it’s nice to see them on the board, several years after entering the discrete GPU market with its Intel Alchemist ‘A-Series’ graphics cards. Right now, the company’s flagship, the Intel Arc B580, belongs to its second generation of discrete Arc graphics.

GPU market share stats for Q3 2025

The JPR data reveals the growth of desktop GPUs (labeled as ‘PC-based graphics add-in boards’) for Q3 2025, which covers between July 1 and September 30. Nvidia has the lion’s share of the market, with 92%, while AMD and Intel sit at 7% and 1%, respectively. Jon Peddie Research notes that the graphics add-in board market saw 12 million units shipped in Q3 2025, which translates to 2.8% quarterly growth, or 47.5% annually. 2025 has seen the release of new-gen GPUs from all three major companys.

If you were to ask us at the start 2025, we would have expected AMD’s most recent RDNA 4 cards to make futher gains, but the company has actually lost 3% of market share compared to this time last year. AMD’s latest RX 9000 series is led by the RX 9070 XT, and there’s nothing above that to challenge Nvidia’s two high-end cards just yet.

Despite the recent gains, JPR predicts -0.7% annual growth of AIBs from 2024 to 2029 as there is still some underlying volatility, and the price hikes for RAM (including GDDR for video memory) are likely to disrupt the industry. It has already been reported that Nvidia’s RTX 50 Super cards have been delayed as a result of memory shortages.
