Intel has just announced its new Battlemage graphics cards – you can take a look at the launch announcement here. And while many people may not be too happy with the loss of the expected B770 flagship, two new GPUs were revealed. If you’re interested in learning more about them, check out our B580 and B570 pages respectively.

With that out of the way, let’s talk about the new Arc B580, a GPU that seems to offer it all for 1080p or even 1440p gaming – and it does it with a budget-friendly $249 price tag. It will be available to buy next week on December 13th, and Intel claims it offers “25% better performance per dollar” than the competition.

AMD launches latest Ryzen 9 9950X3D & 9900X3D CPUs!

Intel Arc B580 is up to 24% better than the RTX 4060

Specifically comparing the B580 to Nvidia’s RTX 4060 and AMD’s RX 7600, Intel shows the B580 outperforms the pair of them in both rasterization and ray tracing. The upgrade to the new Xe2 architecture looks to be a massive jump for Intel. More widespread support for XeSS is also a nice bonus, especially now that XeSS 2 will feature its own frame generation tech.

Compared to the RTX 4060’s launch price of $299 – a price point that hasn’t really shifted since launch (the cheapest we could find on Amazon at the time of writing was $284.99) – the B580 offers so much more value. Intel comes in with aggressive pricing and new tech which honestly makes the 4060 look pretty bad.

In our RTX 4060 review, we noted that some AIBs are overpriced and that the GPU should only really be used for 1080p. Its 8GB VRAM pales in comparison to the Arc B580’s 12GB and Intel made it pretty clear in its presentation that modern games eat up memory, using Assassin’s Creed Mirage as an example, where ultra texture settings used over 9GB of VRAM.
