Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is an action role-playing game set in 15th-century medieval Europe. It is a direct sequel to the 2018 original, developed by Czech studio Warhorse and published by Deep Silver. The latest entry in the series launches today (February 4) on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Additionally, the developers have confirmed that the game will be “officially playable” on the Steam Deck, allowing handheld owners to dive into medieval Bohemia on the go.
Since the game has been optimized for the Steam Deck, many are wondering how well it runs on the handheld and whether they can expect a smooth experience. Early performance previews suggest that won’t be an issue, as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been shown running smoothly at up to 60 FPS with FSR enabled.

Steam Deck owners can confidently pre-order the game
According to a performance preview shared by Deck Wizard on their YouTube channel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 delivers stable performance across different FSR modes, including Performance, Balanced, and Native AAA, achieving a consistent 30 FPS in various scenarios. During intense battles, both FSR Performance and FSR Balanced maintained a steady 30 FPS when capped, with little to no major drops. Raising the FPS limit to 90 with Performance mode enabled resulted in stable performance around 65 FPS, occasionally jumping to 75-80 FPS while free-roaming.
FSR Balanced also delivered promising results, maintaining a solid 45 FPS when capped and even reaching 60 FPS, with slight dips to 55 FPS, while still providing a smooth gameplay experience. For most players, FSR Balanced at either 60 FPS or 30 FPS would likely be the preferred option – it’s great to see the Steam Deck handling the game well. While the graphics were set to Low, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 appears to offer improved visuals over the first title, and being able to play it this smoothly on a portable device is impressive.

The game is set to launch at 8 AM PST on February 4, so the wait won't be much longer. Overall, it's impressive to see the Steam Deck maintain a consistent 30 FPS despite the game’s demanding nature, proving just how effective proper optimization can be.
