Fans have been excited about GTA 6 ever since Rockstar confirmed it’s in development. But recently, Rockstar shared disappointing news – GTA 6 won't come out until May 26, 2026. The company says they need more time to polish the game and make sure it meets their high-quality standards.

While many were upset by the delay, some felt a bit better knowing Rockstar gave a specific date instead of just saying “sometime in 2026.” A former Rockstar developer even mentioned that because of this exact date, there's a good chance the game won't be delayed again.

Fans recreate moments from GTA 6 trailer in GTA 5 and RDR2

Even though the wait just got longer, fans are finding creative ways to stay busy. Some of them are recreating the GTA 6 trailer using older Rockstar games like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. These fan-made projects are getting a lot of attention online, and many people are impressed by the results.

One popular recreation is a remake of the GTA 6 trailer using GTA 5. In this version, Michael and Trevor act as the main characters from GTA 6. Michael plays the role of Jason, and Trevor takes on the part of Lucia, Jason’s love interest in GTA 6. The fan who made this trailer did a great job matching the camera angles and scenes from the original GTA 6 trailer. At the end of the video, Michael even looks at the camera and tells Rockstar not to delay the game again.

The fun doesn’t stop here, as one modder decided to go even further by creating Jason's house from GTA 6 in GTA 5. This house mod was made by YouTuber MouMoud_RPF and is available through their Discord server. However, while the mod costs $24, the Discord server notes that it was “stopped by Rockstar” and will be available again soon.

Another fan decided to recreate some GTA 6 scenes using Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead of making a video, they posted side-by-side screenshots comparing scenes from GTA 6 to scenes made in RDR2, and it’s impressive to see how Red Dead Redemption 2 looks like a next-gen game, even though it was released around seven years ago.

In any case, GTA 6 is still a year away, and we’ll most likely get to see more fan-made recreations in the coming months. The first trailer for the game saw a ton of fun remakes, so stay tuned for more. And while a former Rockstar developer claimed there likely won’t be any more delays, a report from Bloomberg reveals that rival companies have had to have a major rethink.
