Latest stable Proton update brings support for 9 games on Steam Deck, and 7 more in Proton Experimental
Table of Contents
Following the Proton 11.0-2 Release Candidate last month, Valve has now published its stable version, available to all users. Proton comes pre-installed with SteamOS. The update comes with support for 9 new games, while a further 7 have arrived on Proton Experimental. Alongside new game support, there’s also a long list of fixes (you can see the full patch notes here).
Proton is Valve’s compatibility layer to bring Windows games to Linux, opening up support for the Steam Deck and, more recently, the Steam Machine. The upcoming Steam Frame VR headset will also run on SteamOS, though due to being fitted with a Snapdragon chip with ARM architecture, it additionally utilizes FEX to translate x86 apps/games to ARM.
New playable games in Proton 11.0-2 & Proton Experimental patch notes
So, there are 16 new games in total playable on your Linux-based (including SteamOS) device on Proton 11.0-2, including both the Stable and new Experimental releases. You can find the full list below. The new experimental branch includes all the changes from the stable version, but also comes with plenty of game fixes and updates on top.

If you want to switch to Proton Experimental, you can do so on a game-by-game basis in a game’s properties. Locate the game, go to Properties > Compatibility > check ‘Force the use of specific Steam Play compatibility tool’ > select Proton Experimental from the dropdown list. To do so on a system-wide scale, you must enable Developer Mode in your System settings, then go to Steam Play in the settings menu and change your default Proton version for all unforced titles.
