Lenovo isn’t taking it slow like Valve, as three new Legion Go handhelds are registered online

It has been more than a year since we saw the debut of Lenovo’s Legion Go, the brand’s answer to popular handhelds like the Steam Deck or fellow Windows-based ROG Ally. The Legion Go offers some interesting specs to make it stand out from the crowd, particularly its larger 8.8″ screen size and 2560 x 1600 resolution.
We’ve already heard a few rumors regarding new Legion Go models coming to the market. Most recently, Lenovo itself may have accidentally revealed two new models and the prospect of a ‘Lite’ model is perhaps the most enticing right now.
Three new Legion Go handhelds registered on EEC
According to a new listing on the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), there could already be up to three new models in Lenovo’s plans. Most interestingly, an ‘S’ variant has been registered:
- Legion Go S 8ARP1
- Legion Go 8ASP2
- Legion Go 8AHP2
While this doesn’t confirm much in the way of specs, a cheaper ‘Lite‘ model is the most-rumored variant and could be what Lenovo needs to compete with some of the cheaper handhelds out there, particularly the Steam Deck – a feat which has been tough so far. Various rivals to Valve (in the handheld department) have been going down the route of refreshes and reiternations of their hardware and the Legion Go seems to heading in that direction too, in an attempt to one-up Valve.
On the flip side, Valve has opted to wait out for a ‘generational leap‘ rather than release new versions on the Steam Deck. We argued that the Deck could be left behind, and with Lenovo seemingly picking up the pace, this could become more of a reality. ASUS’s ROG Ally X already sets the benchmark for us with its massive 80WHrs battery and 24GB of RAM, showing that even year-by-year generational improvements can make a big difference.
Lenovo has yet to confirm anything in the way of specs for its upcoming handhelds, so we’ll have to wait and see how this story develops moving forward.
