Lenovo’s Legion Go doesn’t have the best speakers, but you can easily upgrade them for less than $20

Table of Contents
We’re big fans of the Lenovo Legion Go. We think it’s often overlooked on the gaming handheld market, but it boasts some incredible specs that help it outclass the Steam Deck or ASUS ROG Ally. It offers both a larger screen and higher resolution than those two, which should make for a more immersive experience. However, the built-in speakers aren’t exactly the best.
Audio is an important part of gaming and the reason why many PC gamers opt for headphones (or a headset). Failing that, you can go with some desktop speakers, but if you want a truly handheld experience on the Go, we’d recommend a portable speaker.

Built-in speaker performance on the Legion Go is lackluster
Portable speakers aren’t expensive, and as demonstrated by one Reddit thread we came across, they’re the perfect addition to the Legion Go. Cheap speakers like these are often less than $20 and give the device a much-needed audio boost. Of course, you can spend as much as you see fit on the upgrade, but something like this on Amazon (listed at $15.48 at the time of writing) makes for an affordable upgrade.
You can also go for any portable Bluetooth speaker you’d like thanks to Bluetooth 5.1 support, though these will generally be a little more expensive – or a lot more expensive depending on what exactly takes your fancy. Plus, they’re not quite as portable as something you can literally plug into your Legion Go and carry around wherever you are.
ASHATA Mini Portable Speaker
Overall, we see this as a clever solution to one of the handheld’s biggest weaknesses. Don’t expect to find the best audio quality you’ve ever experienced from one of these portable speakers, but at least it should be nicer than the device’s built-in 2x2W speaker system. You may also see similar benefits on your Steam Deck, ROG Ally, or MSI Claw.
