LG B5 OLED TV release date prediction, confirmed specs & price estimate

Table of Contents
As expected the LG B5 OLED TV will be the entry-level model in the company’s 2025 line of OLED TVs. LG unveiled all its latest display tech to the world during their CES presentation back towards the beginning of January, showcasing their entire OLED TV line-up and more.
Although the release date and price of this new TV have still not yet been confirmed by LG, we now have definitive info on the specifications: although there are a number of improvements over its predecessor, there’s not really going to be any massive updates to the B-series unfortunately. Based on historical data we can also make some fairly confident predictions with regard to the price and when we’re likely to see this television hit the shelves. Read below for everything there is to know!
- Release date: March-April (estimated)
- Price: $1,699 – $3,499 for 55″ – 77″ (estimated)

- HDR support: Dolby Vision / HDR10 / HLG
- Input ports: 4x HDMI 2.1
- CPU: α8 Gen2
- Operating System: webOS 25

LG B5 release date window (estimate): when will the LG B5 come out?
The LG B5 OLED TV release date hasn’t yet been confirmed by LG, but given the last two generations of the product hit the shelves in March or April (with some variation on the different screen sizes depending on global region), we expect a similar timing this year. Our prediction is for a March-April 2025 LG B5 OLED release.

LG B5 specs & features
Much like the new C5, the B5 doesn’t feature significant upgrades over its predecessor. It continues to offer the same 120Hz Max refresh rate and the standard OLED panel technology, rather than the advanced ‘Brightness Booster Ultimate' panel seen in the latest G5 OLED TV or the MLA technology seen in the previous gen G4. This means that, aside from potential modest gains in peak brightness thanks to the more powerful processor and updated firmware, the B5's peak brightness is expected to be roughly comparable to that of the B4.
The B5 is equipped with the upgraded Alpha 8 Gen 2 processor, replacing the Gen 1 chip found in the B4. The TV also gets the same new webOS 25 operating system that the C5 and G5 are also equipped with, bringing new AI-driven features such as ‘smart profiles’ that use voice recognition to automatically adjust apps and visual pre-sets according to your preferences. The new AI Picture Wizard allows for more precise customization of the TV's picture quality.
The most notable change to the B5 however, isn’t an improvement so much as a regression of sorts, with a reduced number of size options being available this year. LG has confirmed that there will only be two available sizes this year, which will definitely include a 65-inch model, but with the second size still unannounced (though it's likely to be either 55-inch or 77-inch).
LG B5 price (estimate)
The pricing for the LG B5 OLED TV has yet to be confirmed by the Korean tech giant, however, if we look at the previous two generational releases then we can get a good idea as to the likely pricing of each of the different screen size models. We expect the B5 pricing to be within $100 of the different LG B4 TVs. Obviously, we won’t be getting a 48-inch or 83-inch model this year, however, we’ve included them anyway for the previous gen models.
Screen Size | LG B5 OLED TV MSRP (estimate) | LG B4 OLED TV MSRP (on release) | LG B3 OLED TV MSRP (on release) |
83-inch | N/A | $4,499 | N/A |
77-inch | $3,399-3,499 (if released) | $3,399 | $3,299 |
65-inch | $2,199-2,299 | $2,199 | $2,399 |
55-inch | $1,699-1,799 (if released) | $1,699 | $1,699 |
48-inch | N/A | $799 | N/A |
How does the LG B5 compare to the LG C5 OLED TV?
The B5 is the entry-level SKU in the LG OLED TV range, with the C5 being more the mid-tier. In terms of the specific differences, the C5 has a more powerful processor (Alpha 9 Gen 8 compared to Alpha 8 Gen 2) and a higher peak brightness in both SDR and HDR. Although we’re not sure this will carry over to this generation yet, in the previous gen the C-series model also had superior ‘smoothing’ when watching lower-quality content. Besides this, the two TVs are more or less the same, with the B5 being a good few hundred dollars cheaper (though this varies depending on the size you are opting for).
Why will there be only two sizes of the LG B5 this year?
LG hasn’t confirmed the reasoning behind their decision to limit the 2025 release of the LG B-series to just two sizes (the 65″ and one other), though we can make a guess. Either sales of the B-series in these other sizes aren’t great enough to justify their continued production or they’re trying to push more people to pick-up the more mid-range C5 instead. The company used to have an even cheaper range of LG A-series OLED TVs before these were discontinued, and it might be that we see the B-series go the same way next year (though we hope not).
