Black Friday is one of the best times of the year to get decent discounts on MacBook Pros, and this year we’ve spotted loads of its M4 range on sale, with some even hitting their lowest price ever. You’ll find discounts between 10% to 12%, which may not sounds like much, but considering the original prices you’re actually getting a couple hundred dollars off in most cases. That’s good for Apple, as in general, its products don’t get particularly meaningful discounts, which is why going renewed or pre-owned is such a popular option for most people.
I’ve rounded up what I think are the best deals so far, which you can find below. I’ve also put together a no-nonsense explainer to the key differences between the M4 chips you’ll find in the 2024 range, so you can select which one you want easier, and avoid over-paying for something that may be overkill for your usages.

So word to the wise, make sure you’re reading all the specs before you purchase your MacBook, as they share so much in common, but are vastly different in some areas. One minor spec you’ll want to keep an eye out for is the SSD size, which can be between 512GB to 1TB. But a major spec that could leave you needing to return your purchase is the type of M4 chip.
Basically you have three M4 chips available – the M4, the M4 Pro, and the M4 Max.
The M4 chip has 10 CPU and 10 GPU core that support up to 32GB of memory, and can be found in the newer 14-inch MacBook Pros. It’s designed with lighter workloads in mind, and works well without draining too much battery. You’ll find this chip in some of the newer iPad Pros, Mac Minis, and iMacs too. This is the version you’ll want if you’re planning on using it for everyday activities.
The M4 Pro has a 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU, and is designed for more intensive applications and multitasking. This is a good option if you’re a graphic designer, photographer, or video-editor – or perhaps someone who has loads of applications running at the same time. You’ll be able to find this in both 14 and 16-inch models.
Finally the M4 Max is what you’ll want for super intensive tasks, such as 3D rendering. MacBooks with these in can have up to p to 16 CPU cores, 40 GPU cores, and 128GB of memory, making them absolute powerhouses. They are obviously the most expensive, so these are really for professionals who can make the most out of them.
