Modders get Skate working on Steam Deck before EA does, online or offline with new ReSkate platform
Table of Contents
Owners of the Steam Deck may already know that EA’s new Skate game (released as free-to-play last year) is not compatible with the handheld, and it remains unsupported to this day due to a kernel-level anti-cheat. The title, sometimes referred to as Skate 4, has already faced plenty of criticism compared to its much-loved original trilogy, and modders have taken things into their own hands.
ReSkate was introduced a couple of days ago as “the first skate. modding platform”. It acts as a new client with an independent launcher, giving fans of the game a new space to launch and manage mods, and even an offline mode (unlike the official EA version). On top of that, it has support for Linux systems, including the SteamOS-powered Steam Deck or Steam Machine.

Users report the game working “perfectly fine on multiple maps” at 60 FPS with medium to low settings. “Even multiplayer works,” says one user. Fans of the franchise have been quick to port in custom maps, including the Skate 3 or Skate 2 maps, now playable in multiplayer while bypassing the EA Launcher and, in turn, its Javelin Anticheat. The mod also opens up commands such as noclip and free cam.
