It’s safe to say that AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology has been an overwhelming success. Time and time again, we see new CPU sales stats with the brand’s X3D processors topping the charts. Most recently, the popular Ryzen 7 9800X3D or last-gen 7800X3D CPUs have been outpacing the competition, especially with Intel falling behind with no equivalent to X3D to compete with.

We recently ran a poll to ask our readers how they feel about Ryzen X3D chips, and it turns out that most of them already own one. On top of that, just over a third agree that “X3D is the best upgrade right now”.

Will your next CPU upgrade be X3D?

Do you plan to upgrade to a Ryzen X3D processor?

AMD kicked off this technology with the 5800X3D, but once the new AM5 platform came around, stacked V-Cache became more commonplace as popularity boomed. Team Red even returned to the popular 5000 series years later to release the 5700X3D.

Most of you already own a Ryzen X3D CPU

According to the poll (which we’ll leave up and running if you want to cast your vote), most of our readers already have a Ryzen X3D processor. At the time of writing, 43% already own one, 35% will likely make it their next upgrade, which leaves 22% of readers not needing the extra performance for games.

AMD previously said that it was “blown away” by the demand for X3D processors, ramping up production as a result of the popularity. The technology, which vastly increases the amount of L3 Cache by physically stacking it on top of each other, has become a boon for gaming. This includes noticeable improvements to 1% low results, which means fewer frame drops and stuttering during gameplay.
