The launch of the RTX 5090D v2, Nvidia’s second go at a cut-down RTX 5090 for the Chinese market, is imminent. It is expected to go on sale as soon as tomorrow. The original 5090D was created to comply with U.S restrictions, resulting in fewer AI TOPS for the flagship 50 series card, but it still retained full 32GB GDDR7 memory. Version two arrives on the market with 24GB instead, and early retailer listings indicate it will launch at a similar price.

Sales of the RTX 5090D were halted earlier this year after further restrictions, with no immediate replacement. This led to Nvidia developing the v2 version, though it has yet to officially announce it. The news of its H20 AI chips being unbanned in China ignited hopes of the 5090D returning, but this doesn’t look to be the case, and v2 is indeed going ahead.

RTX 5090 v2 pricing shows up early at an online retailer

The editor of the Chinese publication IT Home shared a screenshot of the new v2 pricing. The models listed are manufactured by Colorful, which is one of Nvidia’s board partners. Based on this leak, the 24GB variant could start from 20,699 RMB, which translates to around $2,900. This is indeed cheaper than the ‘v1’ models listed on the site, but not by much, and considering the original launch price was 16,499 RMB, the value of the new card has already been shot.

These prices are yet to be confirmed, and leaker Zed__Wang claims the v2 model will have the same MSRP as the original 5090D. However, since the pricing of these flagship GPUs is already inflated, finding either of them for MSRP seems to be a far cry. It’s a similar situation in the U.S., but we’ve at least seen the flagship around or below MSRP in Europe (open box models for the latter).
