Valve recently rolled out a new Proton Experimental update, improving game compatibility and fixing several issues, particularly for Steam Deck players. The update introduces fixes and performance improvements across a variety of titles, making games like Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Rivals of Aether 2, Knights of the Old Republic, and I Expect You to Die more stable on Steam Deck.

What does the update bring?

ScarQuest is now fully playable on Steam Deck and Linux systems, delivering a smoother experience for players. Aside from that, Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic no longer launches to a black screen in fullscreen mode, which is a major improvement, especially for those who have been eager to dive into the game. I Expect You to Die is also back to its playable state after recent compatibility issues.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard players on the Steam Deck were also complaining about getting a warning message about the game’s installation on spinning drives, while Star Wars – Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast players were unable to play the single-player campaign on their handheld.
