Valve’s Steam Deck is one of the most popular handheld gaming PCs on the market (likely the most popular). While most video games are playable on the device (whether verified or not), NonSteamLaunchers, a custom application, makes it a bit easier if you’re interested in playing games that are not available directly via Steam – a recent example being Ubisoft-published Star Wars Outlaws.

With the latest update to NonSteamLaunchersDeck, users will be able to back up their game’s saved data with a new tool called Ludusavi which has been directly integrated into the software for ease of use.

Steam Deck users can now back up non-Steam game saves with Ludusavi

As mentioned, this tool will enable players to back up their game’s saved data on Steam Deck as well as Proton saves, which adds to seamlessness and wider compatibility. Further, it is a cross-platform tool, so it can be used on multiple game stores, including Epic Games, Battle.net, EA App, GOG Galaxy, and much more. You can download it from its GitHub page.

Ludusavi is for games that are not directly from Steam and/or lack Steam Cloud saves. The new tool comes bundled with Non-Steam Library, so it is easy to integrate the tool. To start backing up games’ saved data, players have to use the tool to scan their library and back up their games.

Players can find all their game saves will be saved at “/home/deck/NSLGameSaves.” Further, a backup of the Ludusavi configuration will be available in the same directory as the tool in case the files get corrupted. To access Ludusavi and start using it, players have to update the launcher. However, you can also download the update manually by heading over to the GitHub release page for version v3.9.4.

A couple of other fixes are also included in v3.9.4

Along with Ludusavi, the NonSteamLaunchers update also added HoYoPlay and RemotePlayWhatever. Plus, there are some fixes for the desktop version of Battle.net and previous installation issues with Bazzite.

Here’s what else is new in the NonSteamLaunchers v3.9.4 –

  • Bazzite: Fixed some things so it works better.
  • Battle.net: Made it possible to install Battle.net again.

The DECKY PLUGIN 1.0.1 also received some updates:

  • Added support for HoYoPlay and RemotePlayWhatever.
  • You’ll see more on-screen messages about games being scanned.
  • Improved the scanning process for games.
