Monster Hunter is a franchise that is 20 years strong, with the first title released way back in 2004 for the PlayStation 2. Fast forward to today, and it’s one of Capcom’s most precious assets. The most recent mainline entry to the series is Monster Hunter: World and it’s currently enjoying a big discount on Steam ahead of the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds next February.
And now, we’ve noticed MH World seeing an influx of players on Valve’s Steam Deck handheld – courtesy of the Steam Deck Top Played charts. In the past week, it has climbed six ranks, resting just outside of the top 10. The game is currently 67% off, costing just $9.89 until November 21st.

Monster Hunter: World proves popular with Steam Deck users
Despite releasing on PC back in August 2018, Monster Hunter: World is still the most popular game in the franchise in terms of Steam players, still peaking above the 90,000 mark on average each day according to SteamDB. The newer Monster Hunter Rise, for comparison, hovers just above 20,000.
So, if you’re looking for a new game to invest some time into this weekend – and beyond – Monster Hunter: World looks like an obvious choice while this deal is still live. You’ll be glad to know that the game is also Steam Deck Verified, so it works extremely well without any extra tinkering required. A quick look online will also tell you that MH World runs well, as per player feedback.
The next mainline entry to the series will be Monster Hunter Wilds, which currently has a release date set for February 28th, 2025. While we wait for that, now’s a great time to get into the series while MH World is on offer; we don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Filled with open-world action and RPG elements, you can either hunt alone or play co-op with up to three other players.
According to HowLongToBeat, the game’s main story offers 47.5 hours of content, while 100% completion can take upwards of 400 hours – so you shouldn’t be stuck for things to do.
