Raspberry Pi just launched what it calls “the best USB-C power supply for everyone”

While you might know the name Raspberry Pi from their lineup of compact single-board computers that have been used in a number of Raspberry Pi-based projects, the company also produces a bunch of different accessories. Last year, they launched Raspberry Pi-branded A2-class SD cards, NVMe SSDs, and 15.3W and 27W USB-C power supplies that were introduced alongside the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5.
Now, the company is adding another accessory to its lineup, this time a more powerful 45W USB-C power supply that costs just $3 more than the previous most powerful PSU. The Raspberry Pi 45W USB-C Power Supply is available for $15 on the official Raspberry Pi website and comes with a handful of upgraded features.
Same function, upgraded design
The new power supply comes in almost the same form factor as the previous versions but features better electronics, a longer cable (1.5m compared to the previous 1.2m), and a suite of new 45W operating modes, including 20V, 2.25A. The best part is that you’ll still get 5.1V, 3A on a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5.1V, 5A on a Raspberry Pi 5. And if you’re picking it up for your laptop, it will work for that too.
“In building the best USB-C power supply for our customers, we'd accidentally built the best USB-C power supply for everyone.”
Raspberry Pi
The Raspberry Pi team believes this is the “best USB-C power supply for everyone,” which suggests even if you’re not a Raspberry Pi customer, you can still benefit from it. You can head over to the official Raspberry Pi page and order the new 45W power supply from one of their approved resellers. Just be sure to select the correct plug type from the five different options available.
