Red Dead Redemption 2 becomes the sixth most-played game on Steam Deck following massive discount
Table of Contents
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released back in 2018 (it came to PC later in 2019), and despite being over six years old, it remains extremely popular today. On top of that, it is easily one of Rockstar’s most successful titles, earning over 175 Game of the Year awards and selling over 67 million copies. And recently, we saw a rise in its popularity on the Steam Deck after the game received a massive discount on Steam.
RDR2 is currently the sixth most-played game on the Steam Deck
If you head over to the Steam Deck Top Played charts, you’ll see that Red Dead Redemption 2 has jumped eight positions to become the 6th most-played game on the Steam Deck for the past week, despite not having the ‘Verified’ badge. It is above titles like Diablo 4, Cyberpunk 2077, and even Elden Ring (which was the most-played Steam Deck game of 2024).

The sudden rise in popularity is thanks to the 75% discount on Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam. Right now, you can get it for just $14.99, which is $45 less than its original price. The discount is part of the Rockstar Games Publisher Sale, which has reduced the prices of several games, including other popular titles like GTA V, Max Payne 3, GTA IV, and many more.
If you look at the data on SteamDB, you’ll see that Red Dead Redemption 2 has experienced steady growth over the years. Usually, single-player games see a downward trend in the charts after a few months as people complete them and move on to other games. However, this is not the case with RDR2, as the game continues to grow. In fact, on Steam, it hit an all-time high peak of 86,717 players about two days ago, which is impressive for a game that is over six years old.
In any case, if you’re interested in trying out Red Dead Redemption 2, make sure to grab it quickly, as the offer ends on February 6, after which it will return to its original price.
