Nvidia’s latest RTX 50 series has been all about improving performance using AI, and we see this in action with new features like Multi Frame Gen, enhanced Ray Reconstruction, Super Resolution, and more. However, the RTX 50 series also brings significant AI enhancements to Nvidia Reflex. For those unaware, Reflex technologies are designed to optimize the graphics pipeline for ultimate responsiveness, enabling “faster target acquisition, quicker reaction times, and improved aim precision.” This comes in clutch when using frame generation tech that causes latency.

This big enhancement comes in the form of Nvidia Reflex 2, which introduces a new feature called Frame Warp, which improves responsiveness by updating the game frame based on the latest mouse input just before it is sent to the display. This means your on-screen actions will accurately reflect your real-time mouse movements, reducing input lag for a more responsive feel.

Reflex 2 reduces latency more than twice as much as Reflex 1

This comes from the Korean publication Quasar Zone, which was invited to Nvidia’s GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2025 event. Reflex 2 takes a step beyond Reflex 1 by reducing latency through predictive rendering. It analyzes mouse movements to predict the next scene and displays it on screen first.

The results speak for themselves as this technology significantly reduces latency from 43.7 ms natively to 20.0 ms on Reflex 1 and 9.3 ms on Reflex 2. Quasar Zone adds that “when playing the popular competitive title The Finals, it felt like mouse clicks and gunshots were happening simultaneously.” That said, Reflex 2 with Frame Warp is still “coming soon,” and there's no specific release date to look forward to yet.

These new benchmarks line up with the numbers that Nvidia showed off when it initially revealed Reflex 2 at CES 2025 earlier this year. Team Green also tested Reflex 2 in The Finals, one of the limited titles confirmed to receive this technology.

Not everyone is happy with Reflex 2

While Nvidia’s push to integrate more AI into its latest products is a major achievement for the green team, some users aren’t happy about the shift in focus, especially if it comes at the cost of no substantial raw performance uplift. One user argues that Nvidia’s Multi-Frame Generation is designed to boost the visible frame rate by reducing real ones, which worsens latency. To counteract that, players are then forced to enable another AI feature, making it feel like you need AI just to fix AI.

Gamers are generally not happy with the RTX 50 series GPUs, especially the more budget-oriented models, as AMD seems to have secured a strong hold on that sector with its latest RX 9070 series GPUs. Perhaps we might see Nvidia shift its focus toward delivering actual performance improvements in its GPUs, something companies like Apple and Microsoft have already done as users are starting to lose interest in AI.
