New AI features for the brand’s Galaxy devices have just been announced at this year’s Samsung Unpacked Event, with some exciting updates being rolled out.

While Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event has unveiled some exciting innovations for its latest Galaxy product lineup, most of the updates encompass AI technologies. In fact, most of the changes surrounding the new Galaxy devices are AI-based features, despite tweaks being made to the design of the devices.

With that in mind, there are plenty of features to get excited about, including; Now Brief and Now Bar, personal data engines, multi-app connectivity features within One UI 7, incorporated Gemini functionality, and more.

Let’s take a look at the biggest AI innovations coming to this year’s Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy S25 series looks set to be packed with AI innovations designed to make life easier and more intuitive. At the heart of these advancements is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, custom-tuned for Samsung, which enables faster on-device AI processing. This includes tasks that previously required cloud support, such as generative photo editing and real-time audio enhancement.

Key AI Features coming to Galaxy devices:

  • Generative Photo Editing: A new enhanced version comes to Galaxy S25 devices for drawing elements into photos or removing distractions like people or objects, delivering better results in less time.
  • Audio Eraser: A built-in video editing tool that isolates or reduces specific sounds—like voices, wind, or crowds—giving users unparalleled control over their media.
  • AI Select: A revamped Edge Panel feature offering smart suggestions for actions like cropping screenshots, creating GIFs, and adding events to your calendar.
  • Now Brief and Now Bar: Daily summaries and lockscreen widgets that provide personalized updates on your schedule, commute, or live sports scores.
  • Ask Gemini: Samsung's new default AI assistant, powered by Google Gemini, replaces Bixby and offers natural language interactions, such as resizing text, finding photos, or planning events across multiple apps.

Enjoy a tailored organization summary of your day from the moment you wake up, including appointments but also other updates and sports scores in the Now Bar – that’s viewable from the Lock screen.
The Personal Data Engine gathers info on your day-to-day activities and uses this to help tailor what you need. Essentially, it’s a ‘knowledge-based AI’ that can pull data from multiple apps, rather than previously where the data was compartmentalized inside each app. It puts this data into a personalized ‘Knowledge Graph’ for a more intuitive user experience.

The multi-app connectivity is a feature of One UI 7, which also suggests formatting improvements and image edit suggestions to your text and pictures.

Moreover, the company promises you will be able to talk to the phone’s AI in a more conversational manner which it will be able to respond to and understand. For instance, if you say ‘My eyes are tired’ it might suggest reducing the blue light on your screen, and can do this automatically.

You can also ask the phone to search for a particular photograph by giving it various descriptions, and it will dig up the right one (similar to Microsoft). Circle to Search also lets you search the internet for images/music/written content with precision by giving it particular descriptions.

While many of the features are new, some are ‘catch-up’ technologies that have been utilized in both Apple and Google products for over 12 months now. That being said, when paired with the latest innovations, it really does make for a great all-round product.
