Samsung fans always have new hardware to look forward to. This year, the company has released the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 smartphones. Earlier, back in February, the Galaxy S25 series was also launched. Now that those are out of the way, fans are turning their attention to the upcoming S26 series, including the S26 Ultra. However, a recent leak about the battery might leave many feeling disappointed.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything about the Galaxy S26 series yet. There are no official specifications, release date, or pricing details. Because of this, we have to rely on leaks and rumors, which have been surfacing recently. The latest one brings some disappointing news if you wanted a battery upgrade.

No battery upgrade for the Samsung S26 Ultra

Earlier rumors suggested that Samsung would finally give the Galaxy S26 Ultra a long-awaited battery upgrade with a new 5,550 mAh cell. However, a new certification from China’s Quality Certification Center for EB-BS948ABE shows a battery with a capacity of 4,855 mAh. For reference, the S25 Ultra was codenamed S938, so S948 is expected to be the S26 Ultra. In short, the certification suggests next year’s model will have the same battery capacity as its predecessor.

While the phone might not get a bigger battery, it could feature faster charging. Last month, tipster Universelce on X claimed that the S26 Ultra will “exceed the charging power of 45W,” and we’re expecting it to be at least 65W.

Still, if the battery leak turns out to be accurate, many fans may be disappointed, especially as competitors are equipping their phones with much larger batteries. For example, the Xiaomi 16 is expected to come with a 7,000 mAh battery, and the Pro Max version could offer even more. Most recently, Google improved battery capacity on the Pixel 10 series.
