SCUF, a gaming peripheral brand owned by Corsair, is well known for offering some of the best custom esports controllers in the market. Previously, their controllers were limited to consoles and PCs only. But now, they have entered the mobile gaming market with the introduction of the SCUF Nomad. This new clamp-style controller is specially made for iPhones with iOS 16 or later, and it changes the way you play games on your device.
Introducing the SCUF Nomad gamepad
The SCUF Nomad features a familiar console-style layout, with dual anti-drift thumbsticks, a directional pad, four face buttons, two shoulder buttons, and two customizable rear paddles — a signature feature of SCUF controllers. These rear paddles can be programmed for additional in-game actions.
The design also makes it easy to use the thumbsticks and rear paddles simultaneously, so you won’t face any issues. There’s also a dedicated share button on the gamepad, which you can use to take quick screenshots or record video clips. To customize the gamepad, you can use the SCUF iPhone app, which even lets you save custom profiles for specific games.
What most people will like about the SCUF Nomad is that it features Bluetooth 5.0. Most mobile gamepads in the market can be connected to smartphones only via Lightning or USB-C, as they lack Bluetooth connectivity. However, this isn’t the case with SCUF Nomad, as it eliminates the need to use wires or lightning cables. This offers better flexibility and also makes the gamepad compatible with more phone cases. The only downside is that the gamepad needs to be charged. However, SCUF claims that the gamepad has a battery life of up to 16 hours, so this won’t bother you that much.
The SCUF Nomad is currently available for pre-order. It comes in two colors, black and white, and costs $99.99. The first batch is expected to ship on July 8. At the moment, Corsair hasn’t shared any details about additional gamepad designs. But as its popularity increases, we can surely expect the company to introduce more designs.
