Stalker 2 devs say they are “absolutely committed” to rolling out hotfixes, followed by a roadmap next month

It’s finally live, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been released worldwide on PC and Xbox following a long wait (and plenty of anticipation). While pre-release reviews of the game suggest it will be off to a rocky start in terms of performance and bugs, the developers, GSC Game World, have issued a statement to talk about its plans following launch.
In a post on Reddit from the GSC Community Manager mol1it, they start by saying it is “utterly surreal” to say that the game is finally out – just as wild as the game’s development. However, they also go on to iterate that the game may still have some “rough edges” and development will be an ongoing process.
The Stalker 2 development team will be “quickly fixing any issues” that require attention
According to the statement, there’s a lot of passion that has gone into this project and they admit: “we literally haven’t released anything of this scale before” – the anticipation for the game and the fact it is a Steam top seller only means more pressure. It’s clear that they’re in for the long haul and the team will be working on hotfixes, “rolling them out as precisely as possible, but as frequently as we can.”
Even ahead of the launch, official Nvidia benchmarks told us that upscaling tech like DLSS is going to be an important part of optimizing the game and even the system requirements rely on it for benchmarking. While this isn’t a great look on the performance front, it at least gave us an understanding of what to expect. And now, with official word from the development team, this only confirms the state the game is in.
They also confirmed a roadmap for the game, including free in-game content, will be shared sometime in December with many “big plans” for the Stalker universe. You can read the full statement below:
