Starfield arrived just over a year ago, not quite hitting in the same way as previous Bethesda franchises like The Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Game director Todd Howard described it as “Skyrim in space” but clearly not everyone had the same level of praise for it. Regardless, it still has its fans and one of the ways Bethesda’s games live on is via the medium of mods.
The modding community has been hard at work creating useful or fun modifications for the game, and we’re here to talk about one today. The ‘Seamless City Interiors’ mod opens up the game’s world for more fluid exploration all the while cutting down on loading screens; you can liken this mod to ‘Open Cities’ in Skyrim.
Seamless City Interiors mod is now available for download
You can find this mod over on Nexus Mods. It was uploaded in early November and has already gained some traction with the community, though it doesn’t come without potential compatibility issues – which we’ll get onto. To clarify exactly how it works, the mod changes interior locations to be classified as exterior, creating a seamless transition between the areas without the need for a loading screen slowing you down.

There may be some compatibility issues
Not all is perfect just yet. As one user says in the new mod’s post comments, it’s a “huge compatibility nightmare” – this is something that will hopefully improve as more work is done. Another commenter points out that “it seems to be incompatible” with NPCs that have particular routines, causing them to be broken and unable to interact with.
Either way, this looks like a fun mod to try out yourself or at least keep an eye on if you’re playing Starfield on PC. Anyone interested in Starfield may also want to see our best CPU to best GPU guides for smooth performance.
