Steam Frame startup movie leaked ahead of launch, matching the Machine and Deck intros before it
Thanks to some data mining of the latest Steam Client Beta, released on August 11, we now have our first look at the Steam Frame startup movie. Unsurprisingly, it’s incredibly similar to the Steam Machine and Steam Frame intros that came before it, with a short animation transitioning between the Frame and Steam logos. Like the others, we assume it will be customizable.
We’re still waiting for Valve to reveal the exact Steam Frame release date, but everything points towards a launch very soon. Not much time remains in the summer launch window Valve most recently communicated, so we may finally see the headset arrive this August. A couple of months ago, the Welcome Tour was leaked, giving us a glimpse of the initial setup process.
Here’s what the Steam Frame startup movie looks like
Unlike the Steam Machine startup movie, which was found shortly after Valve first introduced its 2026 hardware lineup (back in November 2025), we’ve had to wait until close to the Steam Frame’s launch for this leak. The animation has made its rounds online (see below).

The startup movie is another piece of the puzzle ahead of the release – we saw Valve add initial Frame support in the SteamOS beta earlier this week, and the Steam Frame Verified games list continues to grow, all currently featured on the ‘Great on Frame’ page on the Steam store. Its appearance might trigger fans to make their own custom movies.
People have been discussing their potential custom startup movies for a while now, and it didn’t take long for the Steam Machine to get a range of custom movies, perhaps most notably the GameCube-style intro, aptly named the ‘GabeCube’. Either way, we’re expecting some official news from Valve regarding the Steam Frame launch soon, so be sure to stay tuned.
