The Crew 2 is now just $1 on PC, offline mode in the works to “ensure long-term access”

Ubisoft has just dropped a big offer for PC gamers: The Crew 2 is now available for the incredibly low price of just $1 on storefronts such as Ubisoft, Steam, and Epic Games. According to the Steam Store page, this offer will be running until September 23rd, so you have a decent amount of time to grab it while it’s cheap.
Some people have been quick to suggest that it could mean that Ubisoft will soon shut down the servers, but they have addressed these concerns by promising “long term access” for both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. Sadly, the original game is not mentioned.

The Crew 2, originally released in 2018, offers a vast and diverse racing experience, allowing players to explore various areas of the United States. From cities to wilderness, the game features a wide variety of terrains and racing disciplines, including street racing, off-road racing, and motorsports.
Offline mode also confirmed
In addition to the price drop, Ubisoft has also announced plans to introduce an offline mode for The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. This feature will be a welcome addition for players who prefer to enjoy the game at their own pace without an internet connection. The offline mode is expected to “ensure long-term access” to the game, even in the event of server issues or discontinuation.
While the exact details of the offline mode are still under wraps, it is likely to provide a standalone experience, allowing players to progress through the game’s campaign and complete challenges without requiring an online connection. This could be a significant benefit for those who live in areas with unreliable internet, simply prefer to play by themselves, or just don’t want the game to be lost forever as a result of server shutdowns.
The Crew 2’s price drop and the upcoming offline mode are both positive developments for fans of the game. By making the game more accessible and ensuring its long-term viability, Ubisoft is demonstrating its commitment to the racing game’s community. On the other hand, the sole mention of an offline mode could suggest that complete online support is slowing down, perhaps resulting in a complete shutdown as we saw with The Crew 1 – which is no longer playable on any platform.
