The Last of Us Part 2 gets features “designed specifically for PC” including ultrawide support at launch

Table of Contents
The Last of Us is a massively successful franchise, going from a standout PlayStation-exclusive game to a critically acclaimed live-action series. PC gamers had to wait until 2023 before they could see what the game was all about, and now, The Last of Us Part II is finally coming to PC with its remastered version on April 3rd.
Developer Naughty Dog has recently revealed the game’s system requirements, as well as a list of features coming to the PC version. These include support for ultrawide, DLSS, and AMD’s latest FSR 4 tech. Part 1 didn’t exactly have the smoothest transition to PC due to performance issues, though it has since improved and is even Steam Deck Verified these days. We hope the upcoming launch is much smoother.

The Last of Us Part 2 system requirements for PC, plus new features
A quick glance at the PC system requirements tells us that it won’t be as easy to run as Part 1. The CPU and GPU minimum requirements ask for a GTX 1650/RX 5500 XT and Ryzen 3 1300X/Core i3-8100 respectively. Compare that to Part I, where the minimum card was a 4GB GTX 1050 Ti. Furthermore, it’s safe to say the game will be more GPU-intensive than CPU-intensive.
Taking the game beyond the 16:9 standard, the blog post reveals that TLOU Part II Remastered gameplay is supported in 21:9, 32:9, and even 48:9 ultrawide aspect ratios.
Naughty Dog says that the PC version has been developed in partnership with Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy, who have brought “the snow-covered mountains of Jackson, Wyoming and the rainswept streets of Seattle, Washington to beautiful life.”
“This version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered is optimized for PC with Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution support, AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 support with upscaling and frame generation, VSync and framerate cap options, including an uncapped framerate option, DirectStorage support, and more. It has been developed with features designed specifically for PC, including adjustable Texture Quality, LOD Distance Range, Volumetric Quality, Shadow Quality, Ambient Occlusion, Reflections Quality, and more.”
Naughty Dog
We hope Naughty Dog has learned its lesson on performance from the series’ previous entry on PC, which was met with very little praise. Of course, this has all been fixed up and is a thing of the past, but it shouldn’t really happen in the first place. The Last of Us Part II Remastered comes to PC on April 3rd and you can pre-purchase it now on Steam.
