Upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds patch fails to address the game’s biggest issue so far

Table of Contents
Monster Hunter Wilds has enjoyed a massive launch, breaking the 1M player mark (after previously coming close), and it looks like Capcom’s popular franchise only continues to grow. However, not everyone has been singing its praises early in its lifespan. Most people will agree that the gameplay is fantastic, but the same cannot be said for the performance on PC.
We’ve tested MH Wilds on a couple of contrasting systems. First of all, 4K on the new RTX 5080 was a joy, but once we tested it on the Steam Deck, it was evident that the game is a tough sell for those working with lower-end hardware. The good news is that a new patch is already on the way; the bad news is that it doesn’t address performance.

No mention of performance fixes yet
It seems like Capcom has yet to comment on the performance issues that have been plaguing the game so far. If you’ve experienced crashing or stuttering in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’re not alone. At the time of writing, MH Wilds continues to hold a ‘Mixed’ review rating on Steam with more than 35,000 negative reviews, largely focusing on performance issues. Note that the game recommends upscaling and frame generation within its system requirements.
One Steam user, Bretson10, makes a valid comparison to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, another massive game launch in the past month – one that has seen praise all around, without performance issues being a noticeable burden. “A patch to address performance would be fantastic” says @ebev91 on X, and we couldn’t agree more. However, for the time being, it seems like Capcom is happy to focus on what it is actively fixing rather than addressing the elephant in the room.
