It has almost been four months since the second-gen Steam Controller was released, when reservations for the peripheral went live on May 4. Valve was quick to admit that demand was much higher than initially expected, later revealing that those stuck in the reservation queue might have to wait until 2027 to receive their controller. But for those in Asia, it’s now back in stock (again).

Valve’s new Steam Controller sold out almost instantly, including at Komodo Station (the official Valve hardware partner for Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan). As of September 8 at 10 AM JST, the retailer has again restocked the device, and it’s still available at the time of writing. On the Japanese store, it costs ¥17,800, which directly translates to around $115 USD or £85 GBP.

Steam Controller restocked at Komodo Station

Valve does not sell its Steam-branded hardware directly through the Steam store in these regions. Instead, customers in Asia must rely on Komodo Station. As a byproduct, that means there’s no reservation queue to sign up for – you just have to do it the old-fashioned way and wait for the hardware to come back in stock. It isn’t the first time Komodo has restocked the Steam Controller.

Komodo Station regularly announces new restocks for Valve hardware, including the popular Steam Deck. On the Japanese store, both the OLED (512GB and (1TB) models are back in stock for ¥137,980 and ¥167,980, respectively. Komodo Station hiked the price of these models twice due to ongoing memory and storage shortages, driving prices up by as much as 46% in Japan and 51% in Korea – the latter being the largest in the regions covered by the officially partnered retailer.

As for the Steam Controller, there has been no change in price since its original introduction earlier this year. As mentioned, it costs ¥17,800 in Japan (tax included). With the Steam Controller back in stock again, we cannot be sure just how long it will last, but Komodo Station has been regular with its controller restocks, topping up in May, July, August, and now September.
