Galaxy Z Fold 6 rumors – what do we know so far?
Table of Contents
Now that we’ve had the yearly release of the Galaxy S series, the spotlight moves over to Samsung’s foldables department, most notably to the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip lineup. Samsung has kept itself at the forefront of innovation in the smartphone industry, and the Galaxy Z Fold is a testament to that as it bridges the gap between smartphones and tablets. Now that the S24 excitement is starting to simmer down, we’ve collected what we can of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 rumors starting to circulate, taking a look at the speculations of the release date, design, software, and price of Samsung’s next upcoming foldable phone.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 release date rumors
Firstly, let’s discuss when we might actually see the Galaxy Z Fold 6 released. While there haven’t been any specific release date rumors so far, the clockwork release of the Z Fold series allows us to estimate with a fair amount of confidence. So far, Samsung has followed a pattern of unveiling new Galaxy Z Fold devices in August, with the past three Z Folds getting released that month in their respective years.
However, the most recent of the three, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 was announced by Samsung in July, so it’s not completely off the cards that the Z Fold 6 might also get an announcement at a Galaxy Unpacked event in either July or August. Either way, we’ve still got a good few months to zone in on a more specific release date, but for now it’s a safe bet to speculate that the release month could be in August 2024.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 design rumors
The design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 has been the subject of much speculation and anticipation, as fans of the foldable are holding out for a design refresh: and it looks like this could be the case. Leaked patents and renders created by XLeaks7 for Pigtou suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 might undergo a major form factor change compared to its predecessor, the Z Fold 5. There were murmurs of this dating back to April 2023, before the launch of the Fold 5, with leaker Revegnus calling a “major form factor change starting with the Z Fold 6”, and we’re now able to start putting the pieces together.
Essentially, the Z Fold 6 is rumored to feature a thinner and more sleek design reminiscent of the Google Pixel Fold, with its cover screen rumored to have a wider aspect ratio. A wider cover screen for using the device in its folded state would make sense, as its thin screen was one of the main problems users seemed to have with previous Z Folds.

Despite hopes for the S24 Ultra’s docked S Pen compatibility to come to the Z Fold 6, leaks so far don’t point towards this being on the cards, although it is possible that this feature might be reserved for a future generation of the Galaxy Z Fold series.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 features rumors
Performance
When it comes to performance, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to be nothing less than a powerhouse. The device will likely be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor also used in the Galaxy S24 range, but in regions outside of North America, there is a possibility that the Snapdragon chip might be replaced with the Exynos 2400 chipset. There’s no word on battery life or battery capacity as of yet, but optimizations in these departments are always hoped for.
With the exception of the OnePlus Open, camera performance on foldable phones can be a little underwhelming compared to the regular flagship lineup. So, could it be that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will see this change? Obviously, we don’t know for sure, but previous rumors from Ice Universe on X do suggest that the camera setup on the Z Fold 6 will be the same as the Z Fold 5, which was the same as the Z Fold 4. It’s nothing to be disappointed by, but after using the same camera tech for three years straight, some upgrades are hoped for but not necessarily expected.
Memory and storage
In terms of memory and storage, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is realistically expected to offer similar options as its predecessor. The Z Fold 5 currently comes with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB, and as this wasn’t an area that was increased for the S24 Ultra, it seems unlikely that the Z Fold 6 might see significant upgrades in these specifications, but it’s too soon to tell really.
Software
Samsung has been pushing the boundaries of what its smartphones can do with the integration of AI, with Galaxy AI being the huge buzzword for the latest Galaxy Unpacked. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to continue this trend, incorporating AI features that enhance the user experience. Similar to the S24 series, these features may include real-time language translation during phone calls, document summarization, and advanced photo editing capabilities, but it’s not unlikely that there will be a unique AI selling point specifically for the Z Fold lineup.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 price rumors
One of the first things that consumers consider when looking to purchase a new smartphone is its price. While the Galaxy Z Fold series has seen a decrease in price since its initial launch, it is expected that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will still fall into the premium price range in the way that most foldables do. Speculations suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be priced between $1,699 to $1,799, which is in line with its predecessors.
Will there be a Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE?
A more affordable folding phone has been desired by many who can’t afford the premium price of the Z Fold models, and it’s certainly a gap in the market that Samsung could be looking to fill. The FE ‘Fan Edition’ smartphones have been a success for Samsung, so there could be a possibility the rumors of a Z Fold 6 FE could be onto something but nothing we know for sure. Techradar did spot a codename used online that could suggest the existence of this device, but we’ll have to wait and see if any of these rumors come to result in an actual Galaxy Fold FE, or if an accessible foldable is just a pipe dream.
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is poised to be the next generation of foldable smartphones, offering a unique blend of style, functionality, and cutting-edge technology. With its rumored sleek design, powerful specs, and AI-driven features, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is set to push the boundaries of folding phones and put Samsung ahead of the upcoming competition posed by brands such as OnePlus and Honor.Â
While the exact details are still shrouded in secrecy, Samsung’s track record of innovation and excellence gives us plenty of reasons to be excited about the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated device!
