Monster Hunter Wilds’ fans were waiting for it ever since it was announced, and the game is finally out now for everyone. However, some unlucky players are facing a serious issue where the game is not launching at all. While there have been reports about crashing and black screens, this problem is even worse as it stops you from entering the game completely. However, if you’re currently experiencing the same issue, don’t worry, as we’re here to help you fix it.

Why is Monster Hunter Wilds not launching?

There could be several reasons why the game is not launching on your PC, such as:

  • There’s something wrong with the game files.
  • There’s a temporary bug or glitch in your system.
  • The game doesn’t have the necessary permissions.

Methods to fix Monster Hunter Wilds not launching on PC

If the game is not launching even after you’ve restarted the system, then follow the methods mentioned below.

Step

1

Verify the game files via Steam

Some of you might not know this, but corrupt or missing game files can stop the game from launching. Sometimes, the files get damaged during installation. Or, the system might fail to download a few files. Thankfully, Steam comes with a built-in feature that is extremely useful in such situations.

  • Open Steam on your PC and go to your Library.
  • Find Monster Hunter Wilds, right-click on the game and select Properties.
  • Go to the Installed Files tab and click Verify Integrity of game files.
  • Wait for Steam to check and fix any missing or corrupt files.
  • Once done, repeat the process one more time to ensure all files are properly repaired.
  • Restart Steam and try launching the game.

    • Click on the Steam menu in the top left corner and select Exit.
    • Alternatively, right-click the Steam icon in the system tray and click Exit.
  • Right-click on the Task Bar and select Task Manager.
  • Scroll down and look for any Steam processes that might be still active.
  • If you see any, right-click them and select End Task.

Run Monster Hunter Wilds as an administrator

In some cases, the game won’t launch because it doesn’t have the necessary permissions. While you don’t have to do this manually for every game, the system can sometimes fail to detect if the game has the permissions it needs to run smoothly. This can cause Monster Hunter Wilds to crash, but here’s how you can fix it.

  • Exit Steam.
  • Go the the folder where Monster Hunter Wilds is installed.
  • Right-click on the Monster Hunter Wilds’ executable file.
  • Click Run as administrator.
  • Click Apply, then OK.
