The world of Eorzea is a lush, vivid one and Final Fantasy XIV knows it. While the game is incredibly pretty, it does take into account that low-tier PCs will want to get in on the action at a decent framerate. The minimum specs are low, but for those of us with beefy PCs, we can push it all the way.

While the game deals with a lot of saving the world, being the one and usual MMO affair, Final Fantasy XIV does feature a rich side quest system, with each ‘job’ and ‘class’ you can take on, all being hot-swappable on a singular character, so you don’t need to make an ‘alt toon’ to see everything.

The game uses ‘time cards’, as well as a recurring fee, allowing you to purchase 60-day time cards from Amazon or simply just have the usual subscription fee come through your debit/credit card every month. Each additional subscription does net you a small reward in-game, so it’s not entirely about time.

With Endwalker coming on the horizon, Final Fantasy XIV has never been more enticing. Its lavish story, excellent MMO style, and often day-losing antics are more than enough to take you through the next couple of months. It also helps that A Realm Reborn, the first lot of content for the game, has been completely redone and stripped back, allowing you to get to the meaty things after it.
