Surprisingly, even though Smite 2 is a next-gen title, you won’t need top-of-the-line hardware to run it smoothly. While a good GPU will help improve the graphical quality, the game will run smoothly on older hardware at low settings. While Smite 2 is currently scheduled to be released in January 2025, you can jump into its Alpha Test today to get a taste of what the developers have created.

Smite 2 Alpha Test minimum system requirements

Smite 2 isn’t a demanding game, so you won’t have to worry about purchasing the latest hardware for your PC. However, you may need to upgrade to play the game at a higher resolution, such as 4K, with the graphical settings set to Ultra. But if you just want to run the game at low settings, then you’ll be fine with old hardware.

While the game is compatible with Windows 10, you should be able to run it on Windows 11 too, but there may be some performance issues. On top of that, both the Core i5-9400F and Ryzen 3750H were released in 2019, and even though they are not some of the most powerful CPUs available, they’re still enough to provide the required processing power to run the game.

Aside from that, keep in mind that 8 GB is the minimum amount of RAM needed to play Smite 2. So, if you only have 8 GB installed in your system, you may need to keep the background applications closed for optimal performance. As for the graphics card, the GTX 1050 and RX 560 are also a part of the minimum requirement, so you’ll need to run the game on low settings for smooth performance if you have them. Smite 2 does not yet have recommended system requirements

At the moment, the developers haven’t shared the recommended system requirements of Smite 2. This is because the game is still several months away from release, so they only shared the minimum requirements to let people know in advance about the hardware they’ll need to run the Alpha Test. When we have details about the recommended system requirements, we’ll update this page.

However, based on the minimum requirements, the recommended requirements may include a better processor, a GPU from the RTX 20-Series like the RTX 2060, and 16 GB of RAM. This would be more than enough to run the game at high graphical settings. But for higher resolutions such as 4K, you may need even better hardware.

While Smite 2’s full release is planned for next year, you can pre-order the game right now. At the moment, there are a total of three Editions available, which include:

• Founder’s Edition: This edition costs $29.99 and includes the Founder’s avatar/badge and title, 2 Legacy Gems, and Cacodemon Ymir Skin.
• Deluxe Edition: This edition costs $59.99 and includes everything in the Founder’s Edition, along with cross-gen Nightstalker Neith Skin and ascension passes for 11 alpha launch weekend gods.
• Ultimate Edition: This edition costs $99.99 and includes everything from the above two editions, along with tier 5 cross-gen The Fallen Zeus Skin, Ultimate Edition avatar/badge and title, and ascension passes for all 23 alpha gods.

Do you need to upgrade your GPU for Smite 2?

From the looks of it, you don’t have to worry about upgrading your GPU if you have the one mentioned in the minimum system requirements or something equivalent to it. However, this will only help you run the game at the lowest settings. If you want to enjoy Smite 2 at 1440p or 4K resolution with the graphical settings set to Ultra, then investing in a powerful GPU will be a good idea.
