The Sonos Arc is a premium smart soundbar that can improve your home theater experience. It was well received by the community when it was launched and has remained a popular choice since then. However, since it’s been more than four years since its launch, users are starting to wonder when they’ll see a new model.

At the moment, as the company hasn’t talked about Sonos Arc 2, we can’t say exactly when it will be released. However, according to some sources, Sonos is planning to ship it later this year. But keep in mind that this is just a rumor, and nothing will be confirmed until Sonos makes an official announcement. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at what we’ve seen so far.

Sonos Arc 2 release date rumors

Sonos hasn’t shared anything official about Sonos Arc 2. They have remained silent and have kept their focus on other products. However, back in November 2023, Bloomberg reported that the company plans to release several products in the coming years, including a soundbar with the codename “Lasso.” Many believe that Lasso is actually Sonos Arc 2, and according to Bloomberg, it will offer “better bass and improved audio quality over the existing Arc model.”

Then, last month, The Verge leaked some new details about Lasso, and they even managed to get their hands on some of its pictures. They also confirmed that the upcoming model would indeed offer better audio quality and some new features.

Sonos Arc 2 potential price

The first Sonos Arc was launched with a price tag of $799. However, this was later increased to $899. Considering that Sonos Arc 2 will likely offer major upgrades and improvements, we expect it to cost between $1100 and $1200. This will be a reasonable price tag for a premium soundbar that comes with all the latest features.

On the flip side, that does seem like a substantial increase that places it within a different price bracket, so we’ll have to wait and see for official pricing to go live when the possibility of pre-orders comes into play.

Sonos Arc 2 expected features

As Sonos hasn’t officially revealed anything, it’s difficult to say exactly what it will feature. However, considering it will be a new model, we can expect to see improved features like more connectivity options, better audio and build quality, and some new features that would make it shine among the crowd.

If we look at the picture that was leaked by The Verge, Lasso seems to offer an HDMI port, an Ethernet port, and a toggle button through which you’ll be able to turn the microphone on or off. However, the most interesting detail is the Bluetooth button. Sonos fans have always complained about the lack of Bluetooth in the soundbars, but the leaked picture shows a Bluetooth button on the left side of the Ethernet port. So, if this turns out to be true, we’ll finally get the much-demanded feature in the next model.

For those who don’t know, to get the most out of the Sonos Arc, you need a Sub or Sub mini. However, back in April 2022, Sonos acquired Mayht Holding BV, a popular speaker manufacturer. This company is known for creating small speakers that deliver the same power as a big speaker. So, Sonos might use their experience to make Lasso work perfectly without the need to buy any additional speakers.

Should I get the Sonos Arc or wait for Sonos Arc 2?

Sonos Arc is a pretty solid soundbar, but it lacks some important features, such as Bluetooth. So, if you mainly connect your devices using Bluetooth and want better audio quality, you should wait for the Sonos Arc 2. However, keep in mind that there is currently no confirmed release date, and you might have to wait till 2025 to get it.

In the meantime, expect to see some decent deals on the original Sonos Arc, like the one we saw back on Father’s Day this year. As the new model nears, it’s likely the Arc will drop in price further.
