Galaxy Watch 5 release date confirmed

Updated: At the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Watch 5 release date and that of the now confirmed Watch 5 Pro. The release date is August 26.

Samsung has set the date of its upcoming Unpacked event for August 10. The Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro will almost certainly be there, even though Samsung hasn’t confirmed what devices it will announce.

If the watch shows up on August 10th, you may anticipate it to be shipped shortly after. It is also expected that the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and a fresh set of Galaxy Buds Pro will arrive alongside them.

Galaxy Watch 5 price confirmed

Updated: The Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro pricing is now confirmed. The Watch 5 starts at $240 for the 40mm, with the 44mm $270. The 4G LTE versions are $290 (40mm) and $320 (44mm).

Meanwhile the 45mm Watch 5 Pro starts is $370, with the 5G LTE version $420.

The 40mm Bluetooth model of the Galaxy Watch 4 costs $249.99, while the 40mm LTE model costs $299.99. The 42mm Bluetooth Galaxy Watch 4 Classic price points start at $349.99 and $399.99, respectively.

Galaxy Watch 5 pre-orders

Both the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are available for pre-order right now from the official Samsung store.

Design

Updated: The Watch 5 Pro is slightly thicker than the two Watch 5 models, due to its larger bigger battery, but all batteries are an improvement on the Galaxy Watch 4 models.

The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro also features thick sapphire glass to make it exceptionally durable.

Colors

We now know that the Galaxy Watch 5 comes in 40 and 44mm sizes, and is available in Blue, Silver, Gray, and Gold colorways.

The Pro is available in the one 45mm size, and in Black or Gray Titanium.

Galaxy Watch 5 New features

Better battery

There’s a 410mAh battery in the 44mm Watch 5, and a 284mAh battery in the 40mm Watch 5. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a larger 590mAh battery.

The Watch 5 Pro is a huge increase over the 361 mAh battery featured in the 44mm Galaxy Watch 4, but it’s also the largest smartwatch cell we have ever seen.

So if battery life is your main concern in getting your first or next smartwatch, that could be highly significant. The Galaxy Watch 5 has 10W charging capabilities, which is twice as fast as the Galaxy Watch 4. And a charging puck comes with each watch.

Body temperature sensor

The Watch 5 does feature a new body temperature sensor, and it’s confirmed that the Watch 5 Pro includes a compass.

Will Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 dominate the market?

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Pro version’s battery improvement would certainly go down in smartwatch history. Who won’t enjoy a premium smartwatch that lasts a long time?

However, we should wait to see what other competitors offer in terms of wearable gadgets. Apple will soon also offer a new Series 8 watch with some intriguing features. As a result, competition will certainly be intense.

Of course, it is up to Samsung to devise innovative advertising and marketing strategies to ensure the Galaxy Watch 5 gets the attention it may deserve!
