Table of Contents
If you’re looking for a gaming monitor that provides great value for money, and can handle both immersive singleplayer titles and fast-paced competitive shooters, this ASUS ROG Strix XG32WCMS is a great option. The VA panel gives nice, strong contrast without the steep asking price of an OLED display, and the 280Hz refresh rate is plenty high enough for most users. At 32 inches in size it’s nice and immersive and offers plenty of screen real estate for productivity tasks. All told, it’s a nice versatile option for just $279.
In real-world use, this monitor excels in fast-paced scenarios: the high refresh rate and low response time ensure fluid motion, while ELMB Sync adds an extra layer of clarity in high-speed scenes. The VA panel’s contrast helps improve visibility in darker environments, giving it an advantage over some IPS alternatives in certain gaming scenarios. The curved panel enhances immersion without feeling overly aggressive, and the larger screen size provides more workspace for multitasking. Color performance is strong enough for casual creative work, while still being tuned primarily for gaming.
What we like about the ASUS ROG Strix XG32WCMS monitor
280Hz refresh rate with 1ms response time delivers elite motion clarity
This monitor is engineered for high-speed gameplay, with a native 280Hz refresh rate paired with a 1ms gray-to-gray response time. That combination significantly reduces motion blur and ghosting, allowing fast-moving objects to remain sharp even during rapid camera pans. For competitive players, this translates into clearer target tracking and more responsive visual feedback in esports titles.

Fast VA panel balances deep contrast with strong gaming performance
Unlike traditional VA panels, ASUS’s Fast VA technology improves pixel transition speeds while retaining a high 4000:1 contrast ratio. This results in deeper blacks and more defined shadow detail compared to IPS displays, which can be particularly useful in darker game environments where visibility matters.
ELMB Sync combines blur reduction with adaptive sync
The inclusion of Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB Sync) is a key technical advantage. It allows backlight strobing to operate alongside variable refresh rate, meaning users can reduce perceived motion blur without sacrificing smooth, tear-free gameplay. This is especially beneficial in fast-paced shooters and racing titles.
Wide color gamut enhances both gaming and media use
With 95% DCI-P3 coverage and improved grayscale accuracy, the monitor produces richer and more consistent color output than standard sRGB displays. This not only improves visual immersion in games but also makes it viable for light content creation tasks such as photo editing and video work.
Curved 31.5-inch panel increases immersion and screen coverage
The curved design wraps the image slightly around your field of view, helping reduce edge distortion and making gameplay feel more immersive. At 32 inches, it also provides a larger viewing area without requiring ultrawide scaling, maintaining compatibility across a wide range of games.
Strong connectivity and software integration
Support for DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI, and USB-C ensures compatibility with both gaming PCs and laptops. ASUS’s DisplayWidget Center software allows quick adjustments to settings directly via mouse, removing the need to navigate traditional on-screen menus.
Who’s this gaming monitor suitable for?
This monitor is best suited to competitive and enthusiast gamers who prioritise high refresh rates and motion clarity but still want strong contrast and a more immersive viewing experience than smaller flat panels provide. It also works well for users who want a single display that can handle both gaming and general productivity without sacrificing responsiveness.
