Squeezing every last bit of value out of your upgrade/build budget may mean opting for an AMD graphics card. After all, Team Red’s cards promise strong performance per dollar. Plus, a new Prime deal pushes the price of one specific model down to a better level. The Asus Prime AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 OC Edition is now at $715 for Prime members. That’s $85 below MSRP, and well under the average price of $751.

Why we like the Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Edition

Smooth 4K gaming

In our hands-on review of this model, we gave the card an ‘Excellent’ rating and 4.5 out of 5 stars. Much of that is down to the strong performance out of the gate. The 9070 XT rasterization performance can easily support 4K with smooth frame rates. So if performance-per-price is key, then this card makes a lot of sense.

Generational gains

While Nvidia leads with DLSS and its ray tracing capabilities, the RX 9070 XT shows impressive gains against AMD’s own previous generation. And, given the real-world price gap between the 9070 XT and Nvidia’s RTX, opting for Team Red with this model makes a lot of sense.

FSR 4

AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) is AMD’s best version of its machine learning upscaling tech so far. FSR 4’s frame generation and ray tracing duties are both impressive, and the advances AMD has made are encouraging for future releases too. Unless you demand the best (very Nvidia), AMD puts forward a compelling case.

What to consider before you buy

The main thing to consider with the RX 9070 XT is that it’s one of the best graphics cards for gaming. So if gaming is your focus and the price fits, this is an easy card to recommend. The question comes when you get to other uses and features. For rendering, streaming, encoding, and with ray tracing and frame generation, Nvidia likely still takes the crown. That matters less if you want 4K for the best possible price, but it’s still worth noting. Regardless, if you’re moving from an older AMD GPU, you’ll only notice improvements.
