If you’re looking for a QHD gaming monitor that ticks all the boxes and doesn’t completely break the bank, then this discounted Acer Nitro 27-inch model is well worth a look. It’s currently at its lowest price in 30 days at Newegg, coming in at a reasonable $169.99. At that price, it’s a quality, cost-effective option that would pair well with a wide range of QHD-ready gaming PC, but especially suits similarly budget-friendly setups.

You’ve got all the basics here when it comes to gaming performance. 240Hz gives you enough headroom for competitive play, while its 0.5ms response time helps to provide smooth on-screen movement even with high fps. FreeSync Premium protects against screen tearing and stutter, and includes low framerate compensation, too. And its IPS display is great for wide viewing angles and is arguably better suited for marathon gaming sessions than your typical OLED, as it runs practically zero risk of burn-in.

In terms of picture quality, it’s what you’d expect at this price point. It has 400 nits of brightness and 99% sRGB color gamut, and DisplayHDR 400 certification. It’s basic, but not ‘super basic’ as some budget-friendly monitors can be, and should still provide vibrant color, bright highlights, and somewhat decent contrast. It’s a smart move not to throw a lot into HDR performance, as you’d need a very expensive GPU if you were primarily playing in HDR in QHD, with ray tracing and so on. And that’s not really this monitor’s target PC pairing.

Is this monitor right for you?

This is going to be good if you’re looking for something primarily for high-framerate QHD gaming and general usage for well under $200. I’d personally pair it with something like an RTX 5060 Ti 8GB build, potentially a lower-end RTX 5070 build, or similar, but I’d say that if you’ve got something like an RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 Ti, you’re much better off investing in a 240Hz QD-OLED instead. I’d say Gigabyte is your best option for something cost-effective, as Newegg’s best-selling QHD QD-OLED is actually only $299.99 right now.
