Table of Contents
This excellent Acer Nitro V gaming laptop is currently $100 off at Amazon, and reduced from $749.99 to $649.99, which is a seriously good price given what you’re getting. This machine packs an RTX 4050 mobile graphics card, which is a great, budget-friendly option for FHD gaming and lighter creative workflows, and that’s paired with the brilliant Intel Core i5-13420H, another cost-effective, but impressive component for gaming, productivity, and more. Notably, it also features 8GB of DDR5 RAM, which is rare to see in laptops under $1,000 in some cases, and it also has an FHD, 165Hz screen, which is everything you need for fast-paced gaming. Overall, for the price, this is great for anyone who wants to game on the go, without breaking the bank.
Key features of this Acer Nitro V gaming laptop
Intel Core i5-13420H processor
This is an excellent, budget to mid-range processor that is great for entry-level mobile graphics cards like the RTX 4050, and has decent multitasking capabilities, too. It features a boost clock speed of 4.6GHz and a fairly modest-sized 12MB smart cache, which is decent for the RTX 4050’s target FHD resolution and will be good for high fps gaming. It’s also got 8 cores and 12 threads, which means it’ll be solid for tasks like streaming, moderately demanding creative workflows, and running background applications while gaming, like Discord.
RTX 4050 mobile graphics card
The RTX 4050 mobile is still one of the best graphics cards you can get in a laptop if you’re trying to keep costs well under $1,000. It’s primarily designed for FHD gaming, and features 2560 CUDA cores and 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM. If you’re largely playing competitive, esports-style games, this graphics card is more than enough to give you solid FHD performance at high fps, although there are obviously some limitations when it comes to more demanding titles and settings. That said, at medium to high settings, it’ll handle most AAA games very well indeed, and for the price, that’s pretty impressive if you ask us.

Display
This laptop features a 15.6 display, which is an excellent size to make the most of its FHD resolution, making it appear crisp and clear without the added expense of something like WQXGA. It’s also 165Hz, which is fast enough for competitive gaming, but not overkill based on the RTX 4050’s capabilities.
RAM and storage
You’ve got 8GB of DDR5 in this laptop, which is great to see, as it’s not always the case at this price-point. This is going to greatly improve overall responsiveness, allow for smoother gameplay, and assist with any lighter creative work, like video editing, you may be doing, too. In terms of storage, you’ve got a small 512GB SSD, which is fine for a few games, and does help keep overall costs down.
Things to consider
So, if you’re interested in upping your budget a little, I’d probably say it’s worthwhile checking out an RTX 5050 laptop as well. These are going to be around $900 to $1000 in most cases, but they do have the edge on the 4050, as they pack more advanced technology and exclusive features. For instance, its AI capabilities are greatly improved, as they feature 5th-gen tensor cores, and that’s going to allow you to use MFG to improve your overall gaming experience. You’ve also got faster GDDR6 VRAM with the RTX 5050, and 8GB of it, too, which helps it perform better at 1080p and handle creative workflows more adeptly. Alienware does a very good RTX 5050 laptop that’s often on sale that I think ticks all the boxes. Check out our top gaming laptop deals below to see what’s currently on sale.
